British endurance athlete Lexi Chambers has officially secured her eighth Guinness World Record following her ascent of Alpe d'Huez in a standard manual wheelchair.

Lexi Chambers has received official confirmation from Guinness World Records recognising her achievement on one of cycling's most iconic climbs.

The record recognises the fastest ascent of Alpe d'Huez using a standard manual wheelchair, with Lexi also completing the first recorded ascent of its kind.

The challenge saw Lexi propel herself to the summit entirely under her own power, negotiating the famous 21 bends of Alpe d'Huez in the same everyday manual wheelchair she will use for her next major endurance challenge.

“I am really chuffed with this one. It was genuinely the hardest event I've ever done physically. To now have it officially recognised by Guinness World Records makes it incredibly special. I have a feeling the next challenge may eclipse it though!”

The Alpe d'Huez ascent formed part of Lexi's preparation for End2EndUSA27, an ambitious transcontinental challenge beginning in March 2027.

Lexi plans to propel her wheelchair almost 5,000km from San Diego, California to Daytona Beach, Florida over 115 days, supported by Team Forces and a growing network of commercial partners, organisations and individuals in the UK and United States.

Team Forces is providing the financial backing required to enable and deliver the challenge, which aims to generate significant awareness and charitable support for military and veteran communities.

The Alpe d'Huez achievement was captured by the End2EndUSA27 media team and has subsequently been turned into a 27-minute documentary, Lexi vs Alpe d'Huez, documenting the preparation, physical demands of the ascent and the team behind the attempt.

With the Guinness World Record now confirmed, the documentary and supporting content will form part of a wider communications campaign designed to introduce Lexi's story and End2EndUSA27 to new audiences in the UK and internationally.

Attention is also increasingly turning towards the United States. Lexi and members of the End2EndUSA27 team will attend the USA v England rugby fixture at Sports Illustrated Stadium later this month, with collaborative communications already being developed with World Rugby and other US-based partners ahead of the event.

“I couldn't do any of this without the people and organisations around me. Team Forces, my support team and all of our sponsors and partners make these challenges possible. Now it's onto the next one. America.”

Organisations interested in supporting End2EndUSA27 through sponsorship, donations, partnerships, media collaboration or amplification are being encouraged to join the growing network behind the challenge.
